Do you know
Avocado Jo?
Jo grew up in Northern California and has always loved delicious avocados. Jo made her home in Australia and in 2010 moved with her young family to Port Macquarie. In the beautiful hinterland Jo and her family found an ideal orchard site on Baileys Road atop Red Hill in Cooperabung and set about planting premium Hass avocado trees to supplement the existing farm thus creating Avocado Jo.
The orchard, with just over 800 Hass avocado trees, is located 30 minutes’ drive north of Port Macquarie on a small plateau rich with nutritive volcanic soil. Each tree is tended to by hand and the fruit is grown without the use of pesticides or herbicides.

Our wonderful Avocado Farm
Tips for Ripening & Storage
Did you know that avocados ripen only after they are picked?
We pick and ship our fruit directly to ensure quality and freshness. Our avocados generally take 1-2 weeks to ripen after picking.
After receiving your delivery, you are in control of the ripening process. Avocados left on the kitchen bench will take about a week to ripen, unripe avocados stored in the fridge will keep for weeks until you are ready for them.
Avocados will ripen more quickly when stored in a warm location or with other ripe fruit. The skin of the Hass avocado begins to darken as it ripens and will be ready to eat when the fruit is soft near the stem.
We hope you love our avocados as much we love growing them for you.
Exploring Avocado Jo
Over the last few years Avocado Jo has enjoyed sharing the love of the farm with family and friends, offering them the opportunity to learn more about the fruit and how it is grown, with the opportunity to pick some fruit and take home a tray.
This has become so popular during the harvest season that farm tours are available to the public and can be organised by enquiry.
